The position

Why ENERGY rather than
another franchise?

ENERGY is not built to be just another gym. That shapes everything from the equipment list to how the premises look on the day you open.

  • An experience, not just a workout. We do not sell access to exercise machines. We build places people want to be, want to train in and are proud to be members of.
  • Premium equipment and design. Considered design, strong equipment and good training zones, with quality at every level.
  • A flexible concept. We are not so big that you become a number. You can make adjustments that suit your own vision and your own premises.
  • Close cooperation and quick decisions. You speak directly with the people who own and run the chain.

The profile

Who is this for?

Three starting points we recognise. None of them require you to have run a gym before.

Established owners

If you already run a gym, ENERGY can be the way to a stronger concept, a better equipment profile and a more attractive member experience.

Founders

You do not need experience from running a gym. What matters most is the ability to see things through, local roots and the will to build a serious business.

Investors

If you are looking for a project with a fully developed model, we are happy to talk about the area, the premises, the budget and the level of investment.

Are you ready to
take the next step?

The next step is a chat with no obligation, where we look at who you are, which area you are considering and what kind of concept could fit. Send an email to bvj@energyfitness.no and we will take it from there.

The experience

Running gyms
since 2012

The guys behind ENERGY have run gyms since 2012. That is the experience you get when you join a growing chain.

We give guidance and support all the way through the start-up phase for new gyms. And we are small enough that you can help shape things to fit your own vision.

Our experience can help you create a gym that both attracts and keeps members.

From drawing to opening

We design the gym together with you

The architect draws the plans

Our architect draws the gym together with you. Changing rooms, reception and lighting, we can draw everything that goes into the space.

The equipment goes in

We put the equipment into the drawings, so the plan is ready the day the equipment arrives.

3D and presale

We visualise the gym in 3D and make videos you can use in presale campaigns, so you can sell memberships before the doors open.

FAQs

Do you have questions before you
take the next step?

Here you will find answers to some of the most common questions from potential franchise partners. Get in touch if you would like a concrete assessment of your area, your premises or your budget.

What does it cost to start an ENERGY Fitness gym?
For gyms of up to around 800 m² you should normally budget 2 to 3 million kroner for training equipment, on top of refurbishment and adapting the premises. The total investment depends on the standard and size of the premises and on the concept you choose. ENERGY helps with the budget, the choice of suppliers and the contract dialogue with the landlord, including looking at alternative ways of sharing costs that can make the set-up more predictable and more profitable.
What comes on top of the training equipment?
In addition to equipment you should normally budget for refurbishment and building work, flooring, lighting, mirrors and surfaces, changing rooms, toilets and the reception and entrance, an access system and a membership system, signage, branding and the facade, and marketing and pre-sales before opening. How much has to be invested depends largely on which premises you choose, and on what the landlord takes responsibility for.
Can ENERGY help with the lease and the dialogue with the landlord?
Yes. This is an area we have long experience with. We can help assess premises, rent levels, contract structure and the dialogue with the landlord. There are often alternative ways of sharing the costs, for example that the landlord covers part of the refurbishment, that investments are built into the rent over time, or that a stepped rent is agreed for the start-up phase. The aim is to find a structure that makes the project realistic and sustainable from the start.
How large do the premises need to be?
It depends on the concept you want to establish. An express gym can often work well from around 500 to 800 m², while a larger full-scale gym tends to be 1,000 to 1,300 m² or more. We help you assess capacity, flow, training zones, changing rooms, reception, technical needs and how much floor area can actually be used effectively for training.
What sets ENERGY apart from other gym franchises?
ENERGY is not built to be just another gym. We build gyms that are meant to give a premium training experience, with considered design, strong equipment, good training zones and an environment with quality at every level. Our position is: Not just another gym. It means we do not simply sell access to exercise machines. We build places people actually want to be, want to train in and are proud to be members of.
Do I need experience from running a gym?
No, not necessarily. What matters most is that you have the ability to see things through, local roots and the will to build a serious business. We help with the concept, planning, suppliers, systems, marketing and operational experience. If you already have experience from training, management, property, sales or local business, that is an advantage, but it is not an absolute requirement.
What does ENERGY help with during the set-up?
We can help with, among other things, assessing the premises and the market area, architect drawings and floor plans, the placing of equipment and training zones, 3D visualisation and material for pre-sales, the choice of training equipment and suppliers, the membership system and access control, pricing, campaigns and sales strategy, the budget and the set-up plan, and the dialogue about the lease and how costs are shared. You get a partner who has been through the process before.
Can I convert an existing gym into an ENERGY gym?
Yes, that can be an option. If you already run a gym, ENERGY can be a way to upgrade the concept, strengthen the brand, improve the equipment profile and build a more attractive member experience. We assess such projects individually, based on location, member base, local competition, standard and potential.
How long does it take to open a new gym?
The timeline depends on how ready the premises are, how extensive the refurbishment is, the delivery time for the equipment and how quickly the necessary agreements fall into place. Once the premises and the main agreements are settled, many projects can be planned and carried out within a few months. More extensive projects can take longer. We help you put together a realistic schedule.
Does ENERGY help with marketing before opening?
Yes. Pre-sales and local marketing are an important part of the set-up. We can help with campaign set-up, messaging, adverts, a landing page, graphic material and sales strategy before opening. The aim is to build interest and members before the gym opens its doors.
Can I get exclusivity for an area?
This is assessed individually from project to project. We look at the population base, the competition, geography, travel distance and the potential for future ENERGY gyms in the area. The aim is to find a structure that gives the franchise partner good conditions for growth, while the chain can still develop in a healthy way.
How do I take the next step?
The next step is a chat with no obligation, where we look at who you are, which area you are considering and what kind of concept could fit. After that we can look more closely at premises, budget, level of investment and a possible schedule. Get in touch at bvj@energyfitness.no, and we will take it from there.
