Age limits

Children and teens
at the gym

A gym is a workplace with heavy equipment. Here are the rules that apply to the youngest members, so everyone can train safely.

Age limits

AgeWhat applies
0 to 2 yearsCan come into the gym in a pram or a car seat
3 to 11 yearsMust be in the social area, not on the training machines

15 years and olderCan train on their own. Joins on a UNG membership with SMS confirmation from a parent or guardian

A UNG membership for 12 to 14 year olds is set up by contacting us at hei@energyfitness.no. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must set up the Avtalegiro (direct debit).

This is the page every other page links to about age limits, and the table above applies to Larvik, Tønsberg and Borgheim. At Stord the minimum age to train on your own is 14, and the YOUTH membership applies from 14 to 17.

For parents and guardians

A gym that is safe
for everyone in it

We want to make it easy for parents and guardians to see which rules and age limits apply at ENERGY.

The aim is a safe and welcoming training environment, with a good experience for children, teens and the other members alike.

The rules for children between 3 and 11 are there for safety reasons, and it is up to parents and guardians to make sure they are followed.

Good to know

  • Children aged 0 to 2 can come along in a baby carrier, as long as the child can sit calmly while you train. Prams are not possible, as we have a turnstile at the entrance.
  • For the youngest children we recommend training in the morning or before noon if you can
  • Children aged 3 to 11 must stay in the social zone or the lounge, ideally with a phone or tablet
  • Children in this age group cannot use the machines, and must not play around the premises either

FAQs

How can a twelve-year-old train with you?
Young people between 12 and 14 must train with a parent or guardian, and do not get access of their own. They get in alongside the parent on a UNG membership. Get in touch at hei@energyfitness.no to set up the membership.
What happens when a fifteen-year-old joins?
From the age of 15 you can train alone, and you sign up for the UNG membership. During sign-up, a parent or guardian is asked to confirm the membership by text. It all happens automatically.
Do teens have to take a course before their first session?
Young people between 15 and 17 with no previous gym experience take Gymlappen first. In Stord it applies from age 14. The course lasts an hour and a half and costs NOK 99, which is covered by the joining fee.
